Letters from the Marsden family to Mary and John Stokes, 1794-1824, with related documents, 1885, 1962

Letters from Samuel Marsden, 1794-1824, his wife, Elizabeth, 1794-1805, and his daughter Ann, Mrs. Thomas Hassall, 1813-1820, dealing with family matters, social conditions in the colony, missionary work in New Zealand, wool production, education and the state of religion in the colony. 

The collection includes a covering letter to Miss Stokes from Rev. S.E. Marsden, Bishop of Bathurst, 20 January 1885, a typescript copy of a synopsis of the letters compiled by Dr. George Mackaness and a carbon copy of a report on the letters made in the Mitchell Library, 6 December 1962
