Photograph album (205 x 155mm) oblong quarto, bound over cardboard, with green string tie. The album consists of 72 photos (mostly gelatin-silver prints, 65 x 45 mm), including one larger photo postcard format (133 x 82 mm), laid down recto of the album leaves, all with contemporary manuscript captions in ink.

Following Tom’s campaign closely, the album begins with Mena Camp, Egypt, 1914, Hell Spit and Anzac Cove, Turkey, Greece, France and ends in South Africa in 1918. 

The album includes a range of photographs. Some of them depict key events such as the Gallipoli landing and Armistice, and others depict Australian troops in boats, on the land, and dead at Lone Pine. There are images depicting the violent realities of the war, such as 1st day ashore, Dead in Lone Pine Trench and Turkish Officer Killed. By contrast, there are images depicting Anzacs at play, such as Rugger at Tel-el-Kiber, Australian Rules Football, and Swimming, Anzac Cove, and there are images of purely cultural interest, such as Fields in France, Greek villagers, Lemnos, and Ladies day out, Cairo.
