Allen Francis Gardiner (1794-1851) was the son of Samuel Gardiner. He entered the Navy in 1810 and saw action on various ships against the French. In 1820, he joined HMS Dauntless for her Pacific cruise, returning to London in 1822. His latter years were spent as a missionary in South America, where he died of starvation in Tierra del Fuego in 185...
