Thomas Hassall (1794-1868), Anglican clergyman, was born at Coventry, England, the eldest child of missionaries Rowland and Elizabeth Hassall. He grew up in Parramatta, New South Wales, and in 1817 sailed for England in order to study for the ministry, being ordained in 1821.
