The film crew has an unscheduled morning tea break with a touch of luxury in the shape of a camp oven cake. The curious character at the back is the principal interpreter, Tagobio, who was able to converse in the various languages of the regular carriers (recruited from outside the district) and had a smattering of local languages.

He was obviously some kind of regional entrepreneur (known to the Government men, perhaps unjustly, as 'the spiv' who took advantage of his knowledge of languages and dialects, his financial mobility and being able to travel the region with V.I.P. status to make profitable deals.
