William Henry Tietkens was a prominent surveyor and explorer of Central Australia in the late nineteenth century. He lived at 'Upna', Eastwood (N.S.W.), a neighbour of the Wright family with whose children he engaged in various high jinks. Darby Wright was one of the children whom he referred to as 'rebels'.
