The Sri Venkateswara Temple Association was formed in Sydney in November 1978, with the aim of raising funds to construct a Hindu temple in New South Wales dedicated to Sri Venkateswara of Tirupati. A temple was built in traditional Indian style on a site in Helensburgh on the New South Wales south coast, and was consecrated in June 1985.
