Douglas Holleley became interested in Luna Park in 1981 following the Ghost Train fire in June 1979 and the subsequent closure of the Park. He developed a project to document Luna Park during the period of its closure, and he returned to the Park again in 1982, 1991 and 1995 to photograph it.
