Administrative / Biographical history

Walter Lawry was a Methodist missionary who came to Australia as a chaplain on the convict ship, Lady Castlereagh in 1818. He was instrumental in the development of the Methodist Church in Australia having established a Methodist church at Parramatta and services in Bathurst. In 1822 he was appointed missionary in the Friendly Islands (Tonga group)...
