A cartoon depicting a milk bar crowded with men. The clock on the wall indicates it is six o'clock. A woman sits at the bar squeezed between two men, while a woman behind the counter elaborately pours a milkshake. A man and a dog stand outside a bar across the road which has a sign 'No beer'.
The cartoon refers to a strike by brewery maintenance men from Tooth's, Toohey's, and Resch's breweries in Sydney in March 1948. An article in 'The Sydney Morning Herald' on 20 March 1948 reports that practically all hotels had been without beer for a fortnight.
