George Howe, editor and printer, was born in the West Indies in 1769. He went to London, and in 1800 was transported to New South Wales. He became Government Printer and later published the Sydney Gazette. In 1806, he received a full pardon and began publishing the 'New South Wales Pocket Almanack'.
