Police (expenses). Return of the cost of the police in each of the boroughs of England and Wales having, according to the census of 1881, a population of over 100,000 inhabitants, for the year ended 29 September 1888; in each of the boroughs of Scotland of similar population for the year ended 15 March 1889; in the city of London for the year ended 31 December 1888; and in the Metropolitan Police district and the Dublin Metropolitan Police district for the year ended 31 March 1889, &c.; and, in the case of Dublin only, giving particulars of any local or incidental charge paid over to the Exchequer as an extra receipt beyond the amount of the police rate given in column 26 [electronic resource].
