Joint report by Messrs. Joseph Dickinson, Thomas E. Wales, and Thomas Cadman, to the Right Hon. Sir WM. Vernon Harcourt, M.P., (Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State), on the coalbed or coalfield in which the workings at Risca Colliery are situated. Made by command of the Secretary of State for the Home Department, in pursuance of a question by Mr. Alexander Macdonald, M.P., asking that, "considering the frequency of explosions in the Risca vein, he will direct the Chief Inspector of Mines, in concert with the other Welsh inspectors, to make an examination into the nature of the coalbed or coalfield, to see if there be any cause that leads to the frequent occurrence of such explosions."
