Explosion at Wood End Pits. Special report to the Right Hon. the Secretary of State for the Home Department on the circumstances which have been elicited respecting the explosion of firedamp which took place on the 13th August 1886, in the Crumbouke Mine at Wood End Pits, Bedford Colliery, Leigh, Lancashire, attended with the loss of 38 lives; and particularly on the nature and sufficiency of the safety lamp which was in use at the time.
