Poor relief (Ireland) Return to an order of the Honourable the House of Commons, dated 17 March 1843;--for, copies of the estimates for erecting each of the poor-houses now open in Ireland, approved of by the Poor Law Commissioners, and a return of the whole of the monies laid out upon each building; stating, also, the present condition of each poor-house, and whether any further outlay is required for the completion, alteration or repair of such house; together with copies of any complaints addressed to the commissioners by the guardians of any union, relative to the execution of contracts or works, or to the condition of the poor-house: return of all expenses incurred for furniture, clothing, or otherwise, as outfit, in every poor-house: return of the number of paupers in each poor-house in the first week of every month since the opening of such poor-house; distinguishing the sexes, and the adult from the infant paupers; and stating the number that received instruction in the first week of every month, and the number that may have been in the hospital or infirmary in each month: copies of any instructions, relating to the education of paupers, issued by the commissioners; and copies of any correspondence upon that subject with any board of guardians: return of the paid officers belonging to each poor-house, and the salaries received by each of them; showing, also, the payment or allowances made to any valuator, collector or other person employed by the union: return of the whole expenditure of each poor-house up to the present time; distinguishing the cost of maintaining the paupers from other expenses; showing the amount of monies paid and of debt due by each union: return of the rates voted by the guardians of the various unions; showing the amount collected and the arrears due by collectors or rate-payers in each union: copies of any resolutions of a board of guardians for a rate to be levied hereafter, or stating reasons for refusing or postponing any further rate: copies of any resolutions of a board of guardians directing a rate to be levied in different sums on different electoral divisions, in accordance with the sixty-second section of the Irish Poor Law Act; and copies of any schedules which may have been made to show the past expenditure chargeable upon and amount of rate to be levied in the different electoral divisions of any union: copies of any application for increased military or constabulary force to enforce the levy of the poor rate [electronic resource].
