Population and poor relief (Scotland). Returns to two addresses of the Honourable the House of Commons, dated 21 & 30 June 1842;--for, no. 1. Return of the number of the population in each parish of the counties of Argyll, Inverness, Ross, Sutherland, and Caithness, at last census: return for each year, from 1836 to 1841, both inclusive, stating, in each of the aforesaid parishes, 1. Whether there is a legal or a voluntary assessment of heritors for the relief of the poor:--2. The annual amount of such assessment:--3. The annual amount of collections made at the kirk door:--4. The annual amount of funds from any other sources which may have passed through the hands of the kirk session for the purposes of relief to the poor:--5. The number of impotent persons on the books of the kirk session legally entitled to relief:--6. The annual amount of relief which has been divided by the kirk session among such persons:--7. The annual amount of relief distributed by the kirk session among needy persons other than the impotent. No. 2. Return of the number of the population at last census in each parish of the several counties of Scotland, excepting the counties of Argyll, Inverness, Ross, Sutherland, and Caithness: return for each year, from 1836 to 1841, both inclusive, stating, in each of the aforesaid parishes, 1.
