I. Courts of request. Abstract of returns to an address of the Honourable the House of Commons, dated 15 August 1838;--for, a return of the names of the assistant barrister, chairman, and other presiding officer, clerk, registrar, and other officers of the courts of request in England and Wales; stating by whom, and when appointed, the amount of salaries, fees, and other emoluments respectively received by the said officers in the years 1835, 1836, and 1837 respectively; the number of suits instituted in each of the said years; for sums under 40s.; for sums amounting to 40s. and not exceeding Đ 3; for sums above Đ 3, and not exceeding Đ 5; for sums above Đ 5, and not exceeding Đ 7; for sums above Đ 7, and not exceeding Đ 10; for sums exceeding Đ 10; the total number of suits heard and determined in each of the said years; the total amount of debts sued for, and the total amount of debts recovered; the total amount of costs incurred; a table of the fees sanctioned by the court; the total amount of sums paid into court; the amount of sums remaining unclaimed; whether any security is given for the due application of sums paid into court; the number of persons imprisoned in each of the said years; the gaol to which committed; the number of persons committed for the maximum term of imprisonment for which the court can commit, classified according to the amount of debt by which the maximum term of imprisonment is regulated; the number of commissioners (if any) associated with the presiding officer, the qualification of the commissioners, and by whom appointed, and the number of days that the court sat in each of the said years [electronic resource].
