Summary
Energy efficiency is both the single most costeffective way of lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and an essential component of any strategy to reach long-term emission reduction goals. For Australia, a 1 per cent increase in energy efficiency would boost 2030 GDP per capita by 2.26% or $1,200 per person, and total GDP by $26 billion.
