Steam vessels : return to an order of the Honourable the House of Commons, dated 27 February 1862 : for, a return, "in a tabular form, with consecutive numbers, of the whole of the steam vessels registered in the United Kingdom on or before the 1st day of January 1864; stating, in separate columns, the following particulars:--official number of vessel; vessel's name; port of registry; date of registry; date of build; registered owners; dimensions of vessels in length and breadth, and depth of hold; tonnage (exclusive of engine room); and gross tonnage, distinguishing vessels built of iron, and vessels having screw propellers; also distinguishing vessels measured under the Merchant Shipping Act of 1854 from those measured under previous acts; and estimated horse power of their engines, and giving the aggregate number of vessels and amount of tonnage; with an index for easy reference attached to it, giving the names of the vessels in alphabetical order, with numbers to each, corresponding with the consecutive numbers in the return (in continuation of Parliamentary Paper, no. 371, of session 1861)."
