An introcuction to the French-tongue, or, The new and compleat french spelling-book. [electronic resource] : In two parts. The first containing a gradual and easy introduction to the knowledge of the alphabet and spelling, in which the pronunciation is taught by a similarity of letters that produce the like sounds in English; with suitable lessons, gradually ascending from words of one syllable to the highest, in a regular and easy praxis. The second comprehending all the rules necessary for true orthography and pronunciation; with tables directing the pronunciation of the vowels, as well as the different consonants, whether single or double. 1. Tables of the combinations of all the sounds in use in the language. 2. Table of all the monosyllables. 3. A list of words alike in sound, but different in significations, &c. with fables from s̆op, ornamented with suitable designs, and adapted to the capacities of youth. the whole calculated and drawn up in a simple and easy manner, for the better introduction into the knowledge of the French language.
