General note

In August 1796, on return voyage from Port Jackson via Norfolk Island to India Captain Hogan's Indiaman the Marquis Cornwallis passed through 'Dampiers Straits'.

This ink and pen chart on laid paper watermarked 'Curteis & Sons 1794' maps the narrowest part of the Strait between Waigeo and Batanta, only 13 miles across.

Henry Moor's signed remark refers to George Robertson's charting of the China Sea....
