Criminal Law and Procedure (Ireland) Act, 1887. Return to an order of the Honourable the House of Commons, dated 13th July, 1908, for:--a return giving the number of persons against whom proceedings were instituted subsequently to the 19th day of July, 1887, the date on which the Criminal Law and Procedure (Ireland) Act, 1887, came into force, for each class of the offences specified in sections II. and VII. of the act, in the following form:--Offence. Section II.:--(1). criminal conspiracy, (2.) intimidation, (3.) (a.) riot or unlawful assembly, (b.) forcible possession, (c.) assault on or resistance to sheriff, constable, bailiff, &c. (4). inciting to above offences, section VII.:-- (1.) taking part in meeting of suppressed branch of association described by special proclamation as dangerous association, (2.) calling together meeting of ditto, (3.) publishing notices calling together ditto, (4.) publishing proceedings of ditto, (5.) soliciting contributions for ditto, total--Number of persons proceeded against. Total. Discharged. Convicted. Number committed. 6 months and above 5. 5 months and above 4. 4 months and above 3. 3 months and above 2. 2 months and above 1. 1 month and above 14 days. 14 days and under. To find sureties or recognisances. Appeals. Affirmed. Reduced. Reversed. The returns to be for the period from the 19th day of July, 1887, to the 31st day of December, 1887, and for each of the years ended the 31st day of December, 1888 to 1892, inclusive, with a note indicating the date at which proceedings were last taken under the act in 1892; and a summary return, in the same form, for the entire period 1887 to 1892; also similar returns for the years ended the 31st day of December, 1901, 1902, and 1903, respectively, with notes indicating the dates at which proceedings were first and last taken, during this period, under the act [electronic resource].
