Summary

The "accursed" architect is Claude Nicolas Ledoux, a kind of Le Corbusier of the 18th century, who held that architecture should be related to daily life. This pioneer of functionalism became architect to many of the French nobility, but his opportunity to carry out his theories of town plannimg was frustrated by the French Revolution.
