General note

"More than a month after the first two volumes had been published, the newspapers advertising the work noted: "A mathematical scheme omitted in the First Volume will be delivered to those who have already purchased the Book .. " .. This new, unnumbered plate was inserted facing page 70", (Eddy, Samuel Johnson, p.37).

The first two volumes were published in 1756 and the last two in 1757....
