Born in New Zealand where he was educated and worked as a journalist, Stewart later travelled to England and Australia where he became literary editor of the Bulletin, and began a long friendship with Norman Lindsay whom he discusses in this interview. Stewart reveals his love for the duality of nature and relates this to his poetry.
