Until 1930 the rabbit-eared bandicoot was relatively common, but suddenly it disappeared. Today it is the subject of an intensive search and study sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund. Also included is footage of other varieties of bandicoot and an illustration of the remarkable 12 1/2 day gestation cycle - the shortest of any mammal in the world.
