Examines incidence of traumatic brain injury based on hospital separation data. TBI accounted for 7% of all injury hospital separations. Age-standardised rate of TBI shows male rate is higher than female in most age groups. Significant state rates occur, and there has been a recent decline in the rate of TBI.
