Summary
On December 14, 1982, The Tasmanian Wilderness Society began an onsite blockade of construction of a dam to flood the Franklin River in south west Tasmania. Of the thousands of people who travelled from all over Australia to join the blockade, 1440 were arrested for their non-violent protest.
