Summary
This report highlights the considerable contribution that diabetes makes to all-cause mortality in Australia. The recent move by the Australian Bureau of Statistics to code all causes of death listed on the death certificate provides the opportunity to examin diabetes as an associated cause as well as the underlying cause of death.
