Notes

General note

Apparently based on a map transmitted with a letter from le pere Nyel, Lima, May 20, 1705, but with later additions such as the Isles d'Anycan discovered on Oct. 14, 1705. Nyel's letter appeared in an earlier ed. of the Lettres, vol. 7, 1707, not available for comparison.

Cartouche title.

Map extracted from Lettres édifiantes et curieuses.
