Administrative / Biographical history
The Sydney Mint produced sovereigns until its closure in 1926 when it was subsumed into the new Commonwealth Mint in Canberra. It was one of only 4 mints in the world producing sovereigns, the others being Melbourne, Perth and Pretoria.
