Mr Herbert Ernest Ross was a senior partner in the firm Messrs Ross & Rowe (architect and consulting engineer). He was a son of Mr. Colin Ross, one of the pioneers of Inverell, where he was born on March 4, 1868. His father opened the first flour mill in the north of the State in 1855.
