Notes

General note

Companion portrait to that of Mrs. T.W. Bowden at ML 516.

Signature / Inscriptions

Unsigned. Label on back of mount of the present portrait, almost certainly affixed by a member of the Bowden family, states that these are portraits of T.W. Bowden and his wife, drawn 1861 and 1862 by 'Mr. Dalton'.

Attributions / Conjectures

Edward or Edwin Dalton is known to have drawn other crayon portraits around this period, it may therefore be assumed that he is the artist here referred to.
