The Potters' Society of New South Wales was founded in 1956. It had small but enthusiastic beginnings and opened a gallery space in the late 1950's. Following several relocations, by 1976 the Potters Society had a gallery at 48 Burton Street Darlinghurst. In 1978 the Potters' Society had 150 exhibiting members and nearly 500 associates.
