These letters were found in the papers of Rev. William Branwhite Clarke filed in the Mitchell Library at MLMSS 139. Rev. W. B. Clarke, a noted geologist, was a friend of Ludwig Leichhardt's and was one of the few men in the Colony who supported Leichhardt in his exploratory endeavours
