Examination of the images shows they were taken from known photographs and engravings made between 1876 and 1904. The earliest is from the Illustrated London News 1876 and the latest from a Melvin Vaniman panorama of Sydney in 1904.

‘Our Colonies, Australia’ were part of the Primus Junior Lecturers’ Series. They were produced by the London firm of W. Butcher & Sons. ca 1910. The slides themselves were produced by a chromolithographic process and sold as a set of eight in a cardboard box for 2/- per set. The series was divided into series A, B, and C.
