Leslie Gilliat worked in the film industry in the United Kingdom from the 1930s until the 1980s. He began his career as a camera operator and went on to become a film producer. He travelled to Sydney with his family to work on the film 'Smiley Gets A Gun', which was made at Pagewood Studios in Sydney in 1957.
