Administrative / Biographical history
Eliza Hodgson, nee Dowling, was a painter and sketcher. Born in England, she came to Sydney in 1828 and received tuition from Conrad Martens. After her marriage in 1842, Eliza and her husband Arthur lived on the wool property Eton Vale on the Darling Downs near Toowoomba.
