Paul Szabo born in Budapest, Hungary, 1921. Grew up in Dombovar. Father a lawyer and mother a concert pianist before married. Called up by army into labour unit in October 1942. In May 1944 unit sent to the Ukraine to dig trenches in the mountains. Slept in open on bare ground and starving. In August unit retreated from Russian army and Hungarian c...
