James Eckford (1810-1881) born in India graduated from the University of Edingburgh 1830 and arrived in Australia as ship's surgeon on the `Duchess of Northumberland' 1835. In 1841 he married Elizabeth Caroline Montgomery (d.1900) daughter of Frederick Campbell-Montgomery and together had fourteen children (Frederick Montgomery, Marian E., Robert C...
