Presented by W.G. McFarlin in 1953. The donor's stepmother, who owned the books, was a daughter of Mr Heffer who had been an accountant with the firm of Robert Campbell & Co. and died aged 69 in 1917.

Robert Campbell (1769-1846) arrived in Sydney in 1798 where he built a wharf and warehouses at Dawes Point. He was a partner in Campbell & Co. with his brother who was based in Calcutta. John Campbell (1802-1886) was his eldest son; Robert Campbell (1804-1846) was his second son.
