Administrative / Biographical history

Captain William Ogilvie and his family arrived in Australia on the 'Grenada' in 1825. They settled in Merton, a 2000-acre grant on the Upper Hunter. Sons, Edward and Frederick, later opened up land on the Clarence River area, establishing the property 'Yulgilbar'.
William and Mary accompanied their son Edward on his visit to England in 1854-185...
