Drawing has been identified as Jose by Mrs. Jose (see PXn225). Jose became Lambert's brother-in-law when he married Amy Lambert's sister, Evelyn. Jose travelled to London in 1903, where he published his work, 'Two awheel', illustrated by Lambert, (see ML 981/J and PXA 2373). Arthur Wilberforce Jose, (1863-1934), journalist and historian, was born on 4th September, 1863 at Clifton, Bristol, England. Due to ill health he came to Australia in 1882, often living rough, he cut wood for the Victorian Railways, picked hops and apples, made bricks and tutored in Tasmania.
