Lieutenant-Colonel J.W. Springthorpe, a physician of Melbourne, Victoria was born in Stafford, England. He was 60 years when he embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board Transport A55 Kyarra, 28 Nov. 1914. He was Senior Physician at 2nd Australian General Hospital in Egypt in 1915.
