Donald Friend, artist and author, was born in Sydney, New South Wales in 1915. In 1947, following his active service, Donald Friend with Donald Murray purchased a small wattle and daub miner's cottage in Hill End, N.S.W. Black and white, pen and ink sketches constitute the main body of his output at Hill End.
