The 2009 Festival featured more than 245 events and included five world premieres and more than 1,000 artists from more than 20 countries. The largest event was Festival First Night on Saturday 10 January, with over 300,000 people in attendance. More than 10,000 people attended the two-day music event on Cockatoo Island, organised by Nick Cave.
