The Clarke brothers, Thomas and James [or John], were bushrangers who were captured at Fairfield, N.S.W. in April 1867. They were tried by Sir Alfred Stephen for robbery and murder and were hanged on 25 June 1867. -- Reference: "Explore the Outlaws! exhibition", National Museum of Australia, online March 2005.
