Administrative / Biographical history

Alexander McLeod Lindsay (1932-2009) was born in Scotland. His parents, William McLeod-Lindsay, a hotel waiter, and Jessie Colligan, hotel housemaid, were not married. He was sent to live with his grandparents who cared for him with the help of several of his aunts. He grew up in Glasgow, and at the age of 16, he became a £10 migrant to Australia....
