Negatives at FM2/1535-1564 copied in 1978 from originals held in the Royal Commonwealth Society Library, where they were placed by C. E. Greening
Signature / Inscriptions
Six drawings of birds are inscribed 'Drawn from Nature by R. Read Senr. 1820 New South Wales'; a portrait, and an illustration for 'The Iliad', are both signed 'R. Read'. The latter may relate to a painting referred to in the Sydney Gazette, 6 Nov. 1819, and the portrait dated 1832
