H.M.S. Black Prince was a British ironclad frigate and was the sister ship of the Royal Navy's first seagoing ironclad, H.M.S. Warrior. The Black Prince served as flagship to the Channel Fleet and was reclassified as an armoured cruiser in 1878. -- U.S. Naval Historical Centre, Online Jul. 2003
